Today is the NFL trade deadline.

At 4 pm, there can be no more trades until after the 2022-2023 campaign. That means that until then, there will be plenty of phone calls between NFL general managers, which could include Bills GM Brandon Beane.

The Bills have been linked to a few players, including Christian McCaffrey, who was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers, in exchange for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round draft pick.

The Bills don't necessarily need anything because they have a great roster, but they can always improve the team. Running back, wide receiver and now safety (due to injuries) have been the three positions floated around the most, most notably running back.

The latest running back being linked to the Bills is Indianapolis Colts running back, Nyheim Hines.

Hines is currently second fiddle to Jonathan Taylor with the Colts but Indy just fired their offensive coordinator on Tuesday and have benched starting quarterback Matt Ryan. They're 3-4-1 and might be a seller by 4 pm.

Stephen Holder of ESPN reports that Hines is likely to be traded by today.

Pat Leonard, Giants reporter, says that Hines has played his last game as a Colt and to watch the Bills and RB's today.

Hines, as a schematic fit, is perfect for the Bills.

He's not overly big and bruising but he's big enough to take on 10-15 carries a game and is excellent as a pass catcher, plus is a good kick and punt returner. He could serve as the complimentary back to James Cook if the Bills decide to not re-sign Devin Singletary in 2023.

Hines has two years left on his deal after 2022, so the Bills would have to work around the salary cap and obviously, compensation is another hurdle.

We have to wait and see what Beane and company do, if anything, by 4 pm.
