After losing many athletes to free agency, the Bills have brought a handful of new faces into the receiving room

Training Camp is less than two weeks away, and the Buffalo Bills nearly had a clean house in the wide receiver room after last season. Let’s take a look at a few of the wide receivers that’ll be participating in training camp at St.John Fisher.

Drafted thirty-third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Coleman is expected to have an impact on the team semi-immediately as there are gaps to be filled. The former two-sport college athlete is confident, quick, and smart on the gridiron, and not in a rush to replace former Bills receivers, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

“All I do is come in and be myself, be where I’m supposed to be. The play is gonna make itself, all I gotta do is just be in the moment. Because I’m not Gabe, I’m not Stef, I’m just Keon. We got a lot of other guys that definitely complement my game and we complement each other’s games, along with Josh, to make things work.”

The 6-foot-4 receiver played basketball and football at Michigan State, but only participated in football with the Seminoles. His familiarity with plyometrics from basketball helps him jump up and snag those hard-to-reach and contested catches.

Coleman had 11 touchdowns and 658 yards on 50 receptions last season and earned First-Team All-ACC honors.

Formerly a Pittsburgh Steeler, a Chicago Bear, and then a Miami Dolphin, Chase Claypool was acquired by the Bills at the start of May.

The international athlete signed a one-year deal and can offer some veteran experience, although he hasn’t turned any heads the past couple of seasons. Claypool was traded to the Bears in 2022 before being sent to Miami in October of last season after vocalizing his discontent in Chicago.

He caught four passes in nine games with the Dolphins. In his rookie season with the Steelers (2020), Claypool had 11 touchdowns, 62 receptions, and 873 yards with Ben Roethlisberger as the gunslinger.

His size makes him hard to bring down on the field, but many have expressed concern over his attitude off the field.

Samuel signed a three-year, $24 million deal in March with Buffalo after having stints with the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.

His most successful season was in 2020 when Joe Brady was running Carolina’s offense. The Brooklyn native managed 77 catches for three touchdowns and 851 receiving yards.

From 2021-2023 with the Commanders, Samuel managed 132 receptions with 1,296 yards and eight receiving touchdowns, as well as 49 carries for 237 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Samuel is a dynamic receiver who brings speed and versatility to the field, as well as veteran experience to the locker room.

The two-time Super Bowl champion signed with Buffalo in the middle of May and is another solid target for Josh Allen.

Valdes-Scantling started in 10 games with the Kansas City Chiefs last season and mustered up 315 yards and a touchdown on 21 receptions. He led the NFL for average yards per reception with 20.9 yards in 2020.

MVS is a deep threat and has experience catching passes from football greats like Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.
