The Flu Is Surging Across New York State
The Center For Disease Control and Prevention recently announced that the Flu is spreading fast across the county.
More specially, there are six states where the flu is spreading very quickly and one of those states is right here in New York.
Based on stats from the end of October 15th, there are six states that are considered to be "High" for the spread of the flu virus.
The country's capital, Washington, DC is considered "Very High" with Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and New York in the "High" category.
Some of the symptoms of the flu include:
- Fever or feeling feverish/having chills.
- Cough.
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
- Fatigue (tiredness)
- Sore throat.
- Runny or stuffy nose.
- Muscle pain or body aches.
- Headache.
Flu season usually runs from the middle of October to the beginning of April. According to a study done by Duquesne University, the flu season usually peaks in February.
Officials are warning that a lot of the symptoms of the flu are very similar to those of COVID-19 and that if have any symptoms you should contact your primary doctor.
Officials are also recommending that you get a flu shot this season as well as make sure that you have the COVID-19 vaccine and the boosters.
You can get a flu shot at any area pharmacy or at your local doctor's office. Most pharmacies will take health insurance which means that getting the flu shot should not cost you anything.
