June is a huge month for weddings. Here are some wedding trends that some brides and grooms are holding on to, and others that they're passing on in 2025.

With the wedding of Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld on front pages, people are trying to see what the popular people are doing at their weddings.  You may have seen this picture from their wedding:

Did you notice the disposable camera on the table?  That's something people used to do to get extra pictures from their wedding day.  It's kind of gone away these days because everyone has a camera on their phone.  But that is a crazy good catch right there.

Trends come and go.

It's your wedding, it should be what you want

For about 20 years, I was a wedding DJ. I've seen new couples and new trends almost every weekend. Over the years, I've seen a lot of them come and go and the only time these trends flopped is when the trends were done to make someone else happy.

I've never understood that.  It's your wedding.  Why would you do something during your big day for anyone other than you?  Those people had their chance, or will have their chance to make their day whatever they'd like.  This is a day to celebrate you and your spouse. My suggestion is to plan it that way.

A lot of people are saying no to these traditions

Unfortunately, weddings aren't getting cheaper, but many couples are leaning towards smaller receptions. We're seeing smaller bridal parties and fewer guests. Just a few years ago, weddings were huge with 300 to 400 guests.  Now, they're opting for smaller venues with somewhere closer to 150 or 200 guests max. For those who have huge families, they're taking their guests outside to outdoor venues. A lot of the major traditions are getting tossed, too.  Things like the garter and bouquet ceremony, and buying wedding favors for every guest, don't happen as much either.

New trends that are taking over

There are some things that are starting to take the place of those old traditions though.  Things like including pets in the wedding, bringing in late night snacks for the guests, and brides wearing a color other than white are all becoming more and more popular.
