The saying goes, “Heroes aren’t born. They’re made.”

One man has become a hero to thousands of Western New Yorkers for speaking out about something that has angered Buffalo residents for years.

His name Aimen Halim. He’s not from Buffalo - he lives in Chicago. In fact, we’re not even sure if he’s stepped foot in the City of Neighbors. But to the city of Buffalo, Halim should be hailed as a champion of all that is right in the world.

Last Friday, Halim filed a class-action lawsuit against Buffalo Wild Wings, a casual restaurant and sports bar chain with several locations nationwide (including one in Tonawanda). The complaint stemmed from an “incident” that occurred this past January.

While dining at one of the chain’s locations in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Halim ordered the menu’s “boneless wings,” only to later discover that they weren’t wings at all but “slices of chicken breast meat deep-fried like wings.”

Products are more akin, in composition, to a chicken nugget rather than a chicken wing.

(Honestly, most Buffalo wing lovers have known forever that “boneless wings” are a lie- but we digress.)

The court document goes on to accuse the restaurant chain of intentionally misleading their customers by advertising “boneless wings” on their menu to make a profit.

This isn’t the first time an unhappy, hungry consumer took to a public forum to complain about “boneless wings.” Halim’s lawsuit even references one of the most famous incidents…

Remember this video?

Ok, as Buffalonians, let’s be honest with ourselves. Is this lawsuit hilarious? Yes.

Is there a chance that this man filed this lawsuit to get some clout and make a buck from a national corporation? Absolutely.

But most importantly - do we agree with Aimen Halim that “boneless wings” are NOT real chicken wings but glorified chicken nuggets that should be shamed?

Oh. You know it.

Bravo, Aimen Halim! You deserve a key to our proud city of Buffalo, a building named after you, and a parade. You are a true Buffalonian through and through…you just happen to live in Chicago.
