Work Begins on New Bills Stadium in Orchard Park [VIDEO]
The Buffalo Bills are trying to win the Super Bowl in 2023, with another roster that is loaded with talent; including starting quarterback Josh Allen.
The Bills window is still open as long as Allen is playing under center, but with Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Tre'Davious White, Matt Milano, Dion Dawkins, Stefon Diggs and Mitch Morse one year older, the clock is ticking.
The Bills know they will be playing home games at Highmark Stadium for the next three seasons, but after that, their new home will be directly across the street from the current stadium.
Erie County lawmakers officially signed off and approved the new Bills stadium in Orchard Park last week, which was the final hurdle to begin breaking ground. The open-air stadium will look very much like a soccer stadium in Europe, seating roughly 62,000 people and costing $1.4 billion.
June is when major construction is expected to start but crews on Tuesday began work on building the new stadium in Orchard Park.
It is the early stages, however.
The new stadium is scheduled to be completed by July of 2026, with the Bills starting play there for the 2026 regular season.
The parking arrangements will be different for the next several seasons, and that includes when the new stadium is ready...that's because crews will then dismantle/knock down Highmark Stadium, so they can have that area for more parking space.
Take a look when you're driving down Abbott Road or Southwestern Blvd. You're likely to see crews hard at work in getting the new stadium completed in time.
