
New York State Alerting Residents About Scary Measles Outbreak
The summer travel season is here and from Western New York, to Hudson Valley, families are ready to hit the road!
But there are some things to be aware of before you travel this summer to protect the family.
There is a warning from New York State about a measles outbreak in other states and where people are traveling to this summer.

According to a post on social media, New York State is making sure that residents are aware of the dangers of traveling to an are that has a measles Outbreak.
"Measles is spreading in some states and countries. MMR vaccination is the best protection against measles. Contact your health care provider to be sure all travelers are protected".
We are so lucky to have the many natural resources and hiking trails here in New York State. As we are heading in to the Father's Day weekend, perhaps it is time consider fresh air and less crowds? If you want to explore this state and stay away from big cities, New York State has so many options for the novice and the expert.
As far as protecting yourself from the measles outbreak, New York State says: "Anyone who has not been vaccinated against measles should receive at least one dose of MMR vaccine. Two doses of MMR vaccine are recommended for all children and adults. This includes, in particular, health care personnel, college students, and international travelers. The doses should be given at least 28 days apart".
