New Soccer Stadium Plan Falls Through In Buffalo, NY
In April, Buffalo Pro Soccer made an announcement that they were planning to build a brand new stadium in Buffalo. Today, they announced that it won't happen at that site.
It was a proposed $10 million dollar stadium that would seat 7600 fans at the corner of Elk and Lee Street where the former Medaille University sports complex used to be. They were hoping to have it up and ready to play in the 2026 season. As of today, those plans have been scrapped.
The search for a new stadium begins...again
On social media, Buffalo Pro Soccer posted that their "commitment to bringing professional soccer to Buffalo continues as we move on from our previously selected stadium location. Today we reopened the site selection process."
They cited "an inability to work through disputes relating to the operation of the neighboring PVS Chemicals facility" as the reason for deciding to terminate their lease with South Buffalo Development.
So today they announced that they will be moving on to find a new home for their professional soccer team.
Where else could they go?
Originally, they were looking at a site between the former Buffalo News building and the former HSBC Atrium according to Buffalo Business First. However, it was out of the price range at that time. They've seen a growth in funds since the excitement began to grow over this team and they believe they might be able to look there again.
They did not publicly mention any other sites at this time.
If you'd like to hear more on this project, they will beholding a Community Town Hall on Thursday July 17th from 6-8pm at Hydraulic Hearth in Larkinville.
