If you have ever been to East Aurora, New York, or done a Google search on the quaint village outside of Buffalo, you probably have seen Vidler’s 5 & 10.

The beauty of Vidler’s is that it still has the small town feel and customer service as it did the day it opened over 100 years ago. We love to shop with our kids for toys and mom and I love the housewares and other gift ideas. It is a gem and the heart of East Aurora.

When I read that it may have been closing, my heart sank and little. I grew up in East Aurora and Vidler’s was a part of my childhood. Good thing that my worries were put to rest when I realized it was a good old fashioned April Fools Day joke. The fact that it was posted the day before on their social media really made it feel real!

It is no surprise that many in Western New York, and around the world, would be upset if this was true. There are few places in 2023 that give you the feeling of tradition mixed with history and personality that Vidler's does. The family has woven in to the fabric of the Buffalo and Western New York area for generations and here is to hoping that can continue for many, many Aprils to come!

I hope your April Fools Day goes well and that you get through it without too many headaches or anxious moments. I am sure that our kids will have a few things up their sleeve when I get out of bed on Saturday.
