City of Buffalo To Begin Offering Financial Literacy For Residents

Buffalo is set to have the hottest housing market in the country in 2024, and Western New York has seen record increases in home values and rent levels. So much so that some parts of Buffalo are nearly unaffordable for the average Western New Yorker.

A lot of this has been driven by inflation over the last few years. Inflation has had a tremendous impact on economics in Buffalo and Western New York, from housing to the cost of goods. Considering that incomes have not kept pace with this, and does not look like it will keep pace going forward, learning how to better manage your money and finances is becoming more important now than it has ever been.

To help make the goal of better financial management a reality, officials from the City of Buffalo are offering their very first series of financial literacy courses.

The Buffalo Common Council, in partnership with M&T Bank, MMB Real Estate, Edward Jones, Evans Bank, Belmont Housing Resources of WNY, the Buffalo Public Schools, and the University at Buffalo, offers Buffalo Money Mastery.

This free event on Saturday, March 30, 2024, is set to enhance people's knowledge on personal finance topics like homeownership, credit, investing, and more. Experts from the for-profit and non-profit financial industry will be on hand to lead the courses during the long event.

From 10 AM to 2 PM inside Diefendorf Hall on UB's South Campus, these workshops will help Western New York residents acquire some valuable skills.
