A volunteer organization, Eight Days of Hope, will be hosting its fourth eight-day outreach since 2019 to help Buffalo residents with free home repairs this summer. From July 15 to 22, 2023, over 1,300 volunteers will serve 100 families in the Lovejoy District. Volunteers will make home repairs including painting, porch replacement, window installation, roofing, landscaping, concrete work and more.

Eight Days of Hope is a faith-based mostly-volunteer organization that serves all people regardless of race, gender, religion or ethnicity. Steve Tybor, EDOH Founder and President, said,

It’s humbling to see the City of Good Neighbors come together to serve one another. Whether it’s through landscaping or roofing or painting, the impact that is made through the love of volunteers lasts beyond what we can imagine.

EDOH is partnering with over 60 local businesses and churches, including Elim Christian Fellowship Church, which will also serve as the headquarters for the 8-day operation.

If you would like to apply to have free repairs made to your home you can submit an application to EDOH. In order to qualify, you must own and live in your home, and it must be located in the Lovejoy District. You can pick up an application in-person at EDOH's satellite location at 852 Kensington Ave or visit www.eightdaysofhope.com. The deadline to apply for assistance is May 8th.

If you don't need repairs or don't live in the Lovejoy District, you can still be a volunteer. Also, if you are a skilled tradesperson or own a construction, plumbing, handyman, electrical, etc. company, you can volunteer your skills to EDOH.  Everyone of all ages and skill sets is invited to help. To volunteer or for more information, visit www.eightdaysofhope.com.
