
New York Cracks Down On Speeding With Automated Tickets This Week
If you get caught speeding on any of these 15 roads in New York State this week, you will get an automatic speeding ticket. Drivers on these roads who speed will get an automatic ticket between today and October 11, 2025. New York Vehicle & Traffic Law § 1180-E allows for automated speed monitoring in certain construction zones around the state. The program, which is a joint effort by the State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the Thruway Authority (NYSTA), will last for five years.
The NYSDOT and the NYSTA may impose a fine on the registered owner of a vehicle speeding in a work zone on a controlled access highway.

You may be wondering about whether or not these automatic speeding tickets can add points to your driver's license.
Points will not be assessed against your driver’s license for any Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement Violations. These penalties are civil in nature, with no criminal implications.
In addition, your insurance company will not be notified of your ticket. You can dispute the violation if you think its incorrect .
By logging into the violation processing website, violators can submit documentation for the reasons outlined as allowable defenses within the legislation.
