We have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting, but the Costco in Amherst is officially open... well, kind of. You can't shop there yet, but you can still save money.

Costco Opening In Amherst, New York

It has been a long time since it was first announced that Costco would be opening up in Amherst, and now it is open, at least part of it.

As of Friday, September 4th, the gas pumps at the Costco on Ridge Lee Road in Amherst are open for business. The rest of the store, not so much.

According to WIVB, the bulk retailer will open its store on October 28th. This will be the first Costco to open in Western New York. A second location is set to open sometime in 2027; that location will be in the old Seneca Mall location in West Seneca.

Now we need to work on bringing some other popular stores to Western New York. I have lived all around the country, and there are two stores I would love to see open in the 716.

Publix - This is a grocery store that is a cross between Whole Foods and Wegmans. I used to shop there when I lived in Florida, and they might have the best Subs I have ever had.

Bass Pro Shop - I know this is a sore spot for Western New Yorkers, but I used to go to the one in North Myrtle Beach all the time when I lived down there. It really is cool store to have in town. Maybe not in Canalside, but I would love to see one open in Western New York.
