Parts of Western New York will be dealing with lake effect snow today. We lucked out this weekend for the most part, as it was snow-free for much of Western New York. The snow that did come yesterday didn't really stick, and the weather wasn't as bad as we first thought it was going to be.

But, we are not out of the woods when it comes to snow in Western New York. We are expecting more lake effect snow in the Southern Tier and on the outskirts of the Southtowns. With that lake effect snow and blowing winds, a winter weather advisory is in place for parts of Western New York.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties today until 1 pm. An additional snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is possible in the most persistent lake snow areas.

The weather is expected to improve as the week goes on. We could see some scattered rain showers and then sunshine is back in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday with a slight warmup across the 716.
