The Buffalo Sabres were eliminated from the NHL playoff race.

Usually, we write that sentence much earlier in the year, but this season the Buffalo Sabres were making a push to end their 11-year playoff drought.

It took 80 games, but once again the Buffalo Sabres will be on the outside looking in at this year's NHL playoffs.

The Sabres had a very slim chance to make the playoffs and pretty much had to win the rest of their games and get some help from the Florida Panthers and New York Islanders to make the playoffs this year.

Last night, their loss to the New Jersey Devils knocked them out of the playoff race.

It was a year full of ups and downs and the Sabres gave fans some amazing highlights and hope for the future. Their Captain Kyle Okposo was down about losing last night, he talked about the future of the team.

The Buffalo Sabres have two games remaining in their regular season. They are off tonight and will have their final home game of the year tomorrow night as they host the Ottawa Senators. They will wrap up the season on the road on Friday as they travel to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets.

The Sabres will regroup this offseason and come back even stronger next year. They have a group of young players that will learn from this season and will have another year of experience under their belts.

Most people are predicting the Sabres will end their playoff drought next year.
