Severe Weather Risk Elevated Across Western New York
It has been a wild start to our September here in Western New York, and that looks like it will continue today. We are going to be dealing with another round of severe weather today across Western New York.
Elevated Risk Of Severe Weather Today In Western New York
You will want to make sure you have some rain gear handy today, as we are expecting to see showers, thunderstorms, and even a possible tornado in Western New York.
The National Weather Service In Buffalo has issued an elevated risk for severe weather today.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo said the biggest risk for Western New York will be damaging wind gusts.
The primary risk will be localized damaging wind gusts, with a secondary lower risk of
isolated large hail. An isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.
Tornadoes Not Uncommon In New York State
On average, we will get anywhere between 8-12 tornadoes a year across New York State. So far this year, we have been above average with 16 confirmed tornadoes already.
That number could rise later today.
