Police at a local college took to social media to raise awareness of the danger of speeding near the school.

Police with the University at Buffalo Tweeted out this post showing their radar catching someone driving 96 miles per hour. That is more than double the posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour near the school.

UB's campus is unique because the Audubon Parkway cuts through part of the campus. A lot of people come off the 990 and are going 65 miles per hour and then the speed limit drops to 40 when you get on the campus.

The fines for driving that fast are pretty steep. If you are caught going up to 10 mph over the speed limit you can be fined between $45 and $150. If you are caught going more than 10 mph over but less than 30 mph over, you can be fined between $90 and $300 and if you are like this person, going more than 30 mph over the limit can result in a fine of $180 to $600.

You could also be fined for inappropriate speed, which could lead to you being ticketed for $45 to $150. Also if deemed reckless, the driver could be fined or jailed for reckless driving.

All these tickets could also lead to points on your driver's license and end you getting your license suspended.
