UPDATE: The westbound lanes of the I-90 have been reopened from Hamburg to the Pennsylvania line.

Travel across New York State has been impacted by lake-effect snow storms. Mother Nature has made one of the busiest travel weekends even more difficult as parts of the New York State Thruway are closed due to heavy lake effect snow.

More lake effect snow is expected over the next several days as well which will continue to impact travel. Travel is the most diffcult in areas along Lake Erie and Lake Ontarion.

Check out this video that was taken along Rt 219 in Western New York where lake effect snow started to come down early Friday morning.

Some places in New York could get several feet of snow by the end of the weekend. If you are traveling this weekend make sure you have a plan and double-check your route before you leave.
