Western New York Walmart Gets New Look [PHOTOS]

It has been under construction for a while, but the Walmart in Hamburg's makeover is now done, and it looks amazing.

New Look Walmart In Hamburg, New York

It was nice to pull into the parking lot of the Walmart in Hamburg and see a lot fewer construction vehicles and buildings. Most of them are gone, and the makeover is complete for the Southtowns Walmart.

It was last year that Walmart announced they would be changing several current Walmarts to Walmarts of the Future.

What Will The "Walmart of the Future" Look Like?

The biggest difference between current Walmarts and the "Walmart of the Future" will be the customer experience. According to a press release from the company, some of the changes include "big, bold signage," "exciting new displays to better showcase merchandise," and "more of what customers are looking for" through expanded and bigger departments in the store,e along with new items for sale across the store.

On top of the change at the Walmart in Hamburg, the Walmart in Amherst off Sheridan Drive was also picked to change. That happened first, so some people in Western New York have already seen the changes that Southtowners will now see.

While I like all the changes, one thing I wish Walmart would do is open more registers. With the redesign, there are fewer self-checkouts open, which causes longer lines since manned cash registers are still far and few.

If Walmart really wanted to update the shopping experience, making it easier to check out would be at the top of my list.
