The end of the really nice weather here in Western New York is here. After five amazing days of sunshine and warm temperatures, the weather has turned, and we will see rain and more this afternoon and beyond.

Severe Weather Expected For Western New York

Today will start off with light rain before a major weather front moves in this afternoon, bringing a chance of severe weather this afternoon and heading into the evening and into Sunday.


On top of heavy rain, there is a chance of Thunderstorms increases as today goes on. There is also a very slight risk of a tornado for parts of Western New York. The non-0 % risk for a tornado is mainly near the New York/Pennsylvania border. In fact, the best area for tornadoes today is around the Pittsburgh and Erie, PA region.

There is also a beach hazard warning for Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties today starting at 11 am. There will be strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Erie in those counties. The good news is that with rain expected all day, not many people are thinking about heading to the beach or into the water today.

Warmer weather returns tomorrow and things really heat up with a chance of hitting 91 on Tuesday.
