Things Only Moms From Western New York Say
Mother's Day is coming up this weekend, and if you are a mom, or have a mom here in Western New York, chances are you have heard these sayings at some point in your house
Here are 5 Things only Moms from Western New York Say:
"Behave, or I am taking you to Father Baker's"
This was one of the biggest threats that moms in Western New York could make back in the day. Father Baker's was an orphanage, and the threat of getting dropped off there struck fear in the hearts of many Western New York kids. Now, the orphanage is closed, so that threat doesn't work anymore.
"There Is Only 3 Feet Of Snow, sorry honey, but you have to go to school."
It seems like kids nowadays get a lot more snow days since they can learn remotely. Back when I was growing up, we would still have to go to school if the plows were out and the buses could drive. Many a mom in the 716 said they were sorry, but secretly happy they would get some quiet time at home.
"Go Bills"
Even if mom isn't a sports fan, they will say this as a way of saying " I Love You" to their kids. A lot of moms are big fans of the Bills, so they will say this when jumping through a table and drinking a shot from a bowling ball.

"Ok, let's put your Halloween costume over your winter jacket."
Trick-or-treating weather is a toss-up here in Western New York. It could be warm and 70 or snowing and 10 degrees. Many moms had to jerry-rig a Halloween costume to make it fit over a winter jacket or snowsuit.
"No, you can't go to Canada with your friends."
As a teen, we have the unique privilege of being able to go over the borders and drink and gamble at the age of 19. Many moms have said this phrase out loud to their kids who wanted to head over the border to party.
