Reviewer: Pizza Capital of the World is Buffalo, New York
Someone from New Haven, Connecticut, which is considered by many as the pizza capital of the world, claims they have it wrong. The capital is in Buffalo.
There are many arguments over where the pizza capital of the world is. Many say it's New Haven, Connecticut for their crispy, thin style. Some say it's New York City and their distinct thin flop. There have been those who claim Phoenix, Arizona is the pizza capital of the world, too. That one can raise some eyebrows but, from what many have said, it's an incredible spot.
Buffalo, New York is of course known for its wings and is the definitive wing capital of the world. However, pizza is another food they are well known for because of its distinct style.
Buffalo-style pizza is not thin, but not too thick. It features a sweet red sauce, little to no crust showing, a lot of cheese, and often cup and char pepperoni. Buffalo-style pizza is not known for being tidy and easily transportable. It is hearty and filling, made for blue-collar people in a blue-collar town.
It's not for everyone. Then again, what is?
This TikTok user named Nik Metcalf (@NikMetcalf) is from New Haven, Connecticut. As it's a VERY different style compared to Buffalo, reviews from people from this area are usually not positive. However, Nik is sold on Buffalo-style pizza. He stopped by a well-known spot, Imperial Pizza, to try a traditional Buffalo slice, and he was impressed. So much so that he proclaimed Buffalo, not New Haven, to be the pizza capital of the world. Check it out but a warning, there is some foul language:
This will no doubt bring some heat to the pizza debate. What do you think? What's your favorite style and spot?
