Buffalo and Western New York are great places to be in the springtime. Once the ice boom comes out of the lake and the weather breaks, there seems to be something great to do just about every day of the week.

No matter what you like to do, you can likely find a great show, concert, or event going on that draws hundreds or thousands of people.

Whether you want to catch the Buffalo Bandits on another historic playoff run, look at the cherry blossoms blooming in Buffalo's Delaware Park, or wander around a historic mansion that has been beautifully restored to benefit the community, there's simply tons of stuff to fix your fancy in the 716.

Check Out The Inside of The Junior League’s Decorators’ Show House In Buffalo

One great event I had the opportunity to check out over the weekend was the 2025 Decorators' Show House, which is presented by the Junior League of Buffalo. This year's show house took over a house that I have been in many times over the years, and I have a fond historical affection for.

What Is The Junior League of Buffalo?

The Junior League of Buffalo, or JLB for short, is a private, non-profit, all-volunteer educational organization that was initially founded in New York City in 1901. The Association of Junior Leagues International comprises more than 290 individual JL chapters, spread across North America and the United Kingdom in Europe.

The Junior League of Buffalo was founded inside the home of Grace Millard Knox in 1919 by Mrs. Mary Crate Taylor and has served the Western New York area for more than 100 years.

What Is The Decorators' Show House?

Started in 1981, the Show House is an opportunity for local designers in an area to transform a house that has some historical significance to an area into a dream house. Each room in the house is taken over by a designer or contractor and remodeled using a theme of their choosing.

For more than four decades, JLB has redone more than 20 houses with the proceeds being donated to local non-profits and community groups. Over the span of these projects, well more than $4 million has been donated to local non-profit organizations in the Buffalo area.

The 2025 Decorators' Show House is the historic George Urban Mansion on Pine Ridge Road in Cheektowaga. The more than 7,200 square-foot mansion, which was constructed in 1869, sits on more than 1.4 acres and has undergone a beautiful transformation.

I had a chance to attend the 2025 Decorators' Show House Garden Party on Friday, April 25, 2025, and was awed by the art from more than 40 local artists and totally redesigned house, with rooms designed by more than 30 great local designers like Hertel Home Consignment, Michael P Design, Denine Jackson Interiors, Creekside Custom Workshop, and more. You can check out some of the art and rooms from the Show House below.

The Junior League uses the proceeds from the bi-annual event to support local non-profit organizations that are important to the Buffalo area. The 2025 Decorators' Show House is located inside the renowned George Urban Mansion in Cheektowaga, New York. Located at 380 Pine Ridge Road, the sprawling former Urban Mansion sits on 1.4 acres and features more than 7,000 square feet of living space. Built in 1869, this home has a storied place in Western New York's and America's history. The 2025 Decorators' Show House takes place daily from April 26, 2025, to May 18, 2025.

The housing market in Buffalo and Western New York is booming, and while there are tons of great houses on the market to check out, there happens to be one house that is a part of Western New York history, and you can own it.
