For the last three seasons, the Buffalo Bills have been very fortunate in terms of avoiding long-term injuries to starting players.

Outside of Tre'Davious White on Thanksgiving last season, the Bills have avoiding those sorts of season-ending injuries...but this season is a different story.

The Bills have dealt with a ton of key injuries, including tackle Tommy Doyle, who tore his ACL against the Miami Dolphins, along with safety Micah Hyde, who was lost for the season after a herniated disc in his neck sidelined him in the home opener against the Tennessee Titans.

Hyde, who is entering the final year of his contract in 2023, underwent successful neck surgery in Los Angeles, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Fowler reports that Dr. Robert Watkins performed the procedure and Hyde could be out up to nine months for his recovery.

That would mean Hyde would be ready to return by next summer, so hopefully he will be back in time for the start of training camp, but by all accounts the surgery was a success and should fix the neck issue for Hyde, which will allow him to play at 100 percent moving forward.

For now, the Bills will rely on second-year safety Damar Hamlin.

Hamlin has impressed in the last two games against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. If he continues to play well, who knows, he could land himself a starting position on another team or with the Bills...depending on if the team can re-sign safety Jordan Poyer before the start of free agency.
