The Monday Night Football Report
The Buffalo Bills offense started their Monday Night Football matchup against the Jaguars with the energy of a husky-puppy in the middle of the “zoomies” after eating too many treats.
Buffalo dominated an underwhelming Jacksonville offense at Highmark Stadium to win 47-10 and move to 3-0 while also boasting a +57 point differential through Week 3.
Their 47 points is the most the Bills have scored in a MNF game, per ESPN.
Josh Allen and Co. managed five touchdowns on five drives in the first two quarters of the game, taking a commanding 34-3 lead at the half.
The 31-point lead at the half is the third-largest in franchise history.
Allen was 23-of-30 with 263 yards and four passing touchdowns and went on a three-game no-interception campaign for the first time in his career. He added 44 rushing yards on six carries for 307 total yards.
Buffalo managed points on every drive, minus one punt to start the final quarter. Six different players scored a touchdown, and 10 different players caught passes from QB1.
Rookies Keon Coleman and Ray Davis recorded their first NFL touchdowns, while Casey Toohill had his first sack as a Bill and a fumble recovery. Javon Solomon had his first strip sack, which led to Toohill’s recovery. The TD was Coleman’s sole target of the game.
“When James Cooks, everybody eats.”
Let me tell you, that boy is cooking on the gridiron. Cook had 39 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries, but had quite a few key runs to extend the drive. He started off the first drive with a 19-yard gain and capped the same drive with a 6-yard touchdown to take an early lead.
Damar Hamlin, who at one point people speculated wouldn’t make the final roster this season, had his first career interception, and in addition to some nice tackles, he had beautiful coverage on his former teammate Gabe Davis in the end zone.
Von Miller has recorded a sack in all three games this season. His sack on Trevor Lawrence with 14:13 in the fourth quarter on fourth-and-goal was explosive and aggressive and led to a turnover on downs to cap a 13-play drive for Jacksonville.
The Bills brought Lawrence down five times, and it was a different defenseman behind the damage each time. In addition to Miller, Solomon, and Toohill, Ja’Marcus Ingram and A.J. Epenesa recorded sacks.
Buffalo scored on the first drive to lead 6-0 after Tyler Bass’ extra-point attempt was blocked.
The Jaguars were held to a three-and-out on their first drive before the Bills got the ball back and marched down the field for an 11-play drive, capped by a Dalton Kincaid touchdown for a 13-0 advantage.
Kincaid had three receptions on five targets along with 41 yards.
Jacksonville was held to a field goal on a 14-play drive to trail 13-3. That field goal would be the only point they scored in the first half.
Buffalo responded with another touchdown, this one a 24-yarder to Coleman on his second snap of the game. Although the rookie was seen on 91.1% of the snaps last week, he did not play a single snap in the first quarter on MNF.
Hamlin’s interception put the pigskin at the Jags 41-yard line, which led to a 27-yard touchdown for Khalil Shakir. Shakir led the receiving crew with 72 yards on six receptions.
Ty Johnson hauled in a 16-yard pass for a touchdown to close out the first half with a 34-3 advantage after Jacksonville had a turnover in downs. Johnson had 28 yards on three receptions.
The Jaguars opened up the second half with a touchdown and then did not find the end zone again.
Buffalo opened up with a 27-yard field goal to go ahead 37-10 before their opponent had another turnover on downs, and then the Bills punted.
On the following drive, Bass made a 43-yard field goal to lead 40-10 with 7:45 left to play.
A strip-sack from Solomon, recovered by Toohill, set the Bills up for their final touchdown of the night as the ball was recovered on Jacksonville’s 21-yard line.
Ray Davis, who had 22- yards on seven carries, went to the right for three yards and found the end zone for a 47-10, all-around team win.
