When Is It Safe To Put Away Your Snowbrush In Buffalo?
Whether you like it or not, Buffalo and the entire Western New York region are often synonymous with snow. There are fewer things for which we're more famous or infamous. When you mention Buffalo to folks, they are likely to ask about the Bills, wings, or snow.
Considering that we recently broke a warm-weather record and it looked like spring has finally sprung in Buffalo, many hoped this would be the year we could snap that idea that we're the snow capital of the nation.
However, looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, we will lose that battle. Not only did we have a quick blast of snow over the weekend, but more snow is expected this week, so just in case you thought it was a good time to take the snow rush out of your car - don't.
When Does It Typically Stop Snowing In Buffalo
According to the National Weather Service, it mostly stops snowing in the 716 around mid-to-late April. Occasionally, we get the odd blast of snow in May, and while it's not often that we get measurable snow in the month of May, it can happen. For the most part, that's the end of it for us.
One good thing about this is that the National Weather Service's data goes back to 1940, and we've never had any snowfall recorded in June.
When Is It Safe To Put Away Your Snowbrush In Buffalo?
We asked that question on Facebook. Can you guess what the general answers were?
The general consensus from just about everyone on Facebook and all the people I spoke to in-person, is that you're supposed to keep it in your trunk all year long. Given that more snow is coming, I guess it's true that you never know.
Some people admitted to keeping their winter tools, including shovels, blankets, and other supplies, in their vehicles all year. Since it could potentially snow well into May, a late March snowstorm isn't that surprising.
You know what they say: you never have to get ready if you stay ready. That said, perhaps it's best to leave the brush in for the rest of the year.
