Advice For Lowering Your Heating Bill This Winter From Buffalo Dads
The cold weather is headed to Western New York and National Grid is already warning people about an increase in their heating bills.
So of course we all want to save money and still stay warm, so we went and ask the experts on how to do this. We asked dads from all over Western New York for some advice on how to keep our heating bill low this winter.
Here are some tips from Buffalo dads on how to keep your energy bills low this winter.
PUT ON A SWEATER
Yep.. this is a classic dad line. I have even used it on my kids. Ok, your cold, throw on a sweater. If you are sitting around in a t-shirt and shorts in winter you are going to be cold.
CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR
Where you raise in a barn? Are we heating up the whole neighborhood? These are typical Buffalo Dad questions and for the most part, the answer is no. So keeping the doors and windows closed all the time will help keep the heat in and let your furnace take a break.
TURN OFF THE LIGHTS
Many Buffalo dads spend much of the day walking around the house turning off the lights that have been left on by the kids after they left a room. Sure it doesn't cost a lot to light up a room, but every penny counts, so turn off the lights when you are not in the room.
TAKE A QUICKER SHOWER
It cost money to heat the water and how many times has a Buffalo dad banged on the door to tell the kids to hurry it up? Shorter showers will help keep more water in the hot water tank and use less energy to heat it up.
GO ASK MOM
A Buffalo dad standard...It means that they don't know or they don't care. So stand by, we are about to go ask Buffalo moms for their advice.
