BOLO: Thieves At Work In Western New York
Just when you though you had seen everything, some bold thieves show you another move. There are reports of unique theft in areas of Southern Erie County that has law enforcement on the lookout.
The summer is here and as busy as we are, it never hurts to remind people to take the extra steps to lock doors and shore up the safety net around your home and property.
By now, you either know someone who has had a car stolen or have had your own car stolen. But thieves in Western New York are after a bigger prize.

In a recent post on their Facebook and social media pages, the Erie County Sheriff's department reported about thieves taking a semi truck in Southern Erie County in Colden, New York.
The post reads that: "The Erie County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's help locating a tractor and trailer that were stolen late last night (7/1/24) from State Rd. in the Town of Colden. It is believed that the semi traveled north on Rte. 240".

The summer is a hotbed for auto theft. The best thing we can do is hope that these criminals are caught and try to make your vehicle less vulnerable. Keep the doors locked, keys far from the vehicle and in a well lit, or covered and locked location.
