Time To Toss Your Trash, Buffalo Releases Spring Bulk Trash Dates
Even though tons of snow is still on the ground and Lake Erie is mostly still frozen, spring is right around the corner. It might be hard to believe, but it's almost here.
The vernal equinox, which officially marks the start of spring, is coming on March 20, 2025. The hometown Buffalo Bisons get their season underway on March 28, 2025, and the city of Buffalo just announced that they're ready to pick up all the junk and bulk trash that we've accumulated over this terribly cold and long winter.
So if you're ready to do a little spring cleaning and clear out all the wonderful things you have stored in the basement or garage, the time for you to toss most of that great stuff out is coming.
Twice every year in New York State's second largest city, the streets and sanitation department allows residents in Buffalo to toss all sorts of large trash curbside. The 2025 Spring bulk trash pick-up schedule has recently been released and it has all the details of what can be tossed out and when.
Starting on Sunday, March 30, 2025, you'll be able to put out a pile of trash that is up to 12 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet high. The pile can contain your typical household trash, plus items like appliances, couches, furniture, and more. This, of course, is a great opportunity to clear out all the junk you've stored up since last year to make room for all the new junk you're going to get this year.
You can toss out most things in the house, but there are some things you cannot. Items like TVs, computers, construction materials, tires, and paint cannot be thrown out in your bulk trash and must be tossed out in a special way.
The complete list and rules for the City of Buffalo bulk trash pickup, including exactly what can and cannot be tossed out, are available on the City of Buffalo website.
