The forward signed a two-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres and Beck Malenstyn came to terms on a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal is worth an average of $1.35 million per year, and the signing comes nearly a month after the Sabres landed Malenstyn in a trade with the Washington Capitals for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

The 6-foot-3 forward set career-highs in multiple categories last season, including assists (15), goals (6) and points (21) in 81 games.

He led Washington in hits with 241 and had 93 blocked shots.

Malenstyn was selected by the Capitals in the 2016 NHL Draft at 145th overall. In 105 games with Washington, he’s managed eight goals, 16 assists, and 24 points.
