The Buffalo Sabres are long shots to win the Stanley Cup, but betting now could fetch you a huge return.

The Buffalo Sabres haven't made the playoffs for 11 straight years. That's the longest active drought in the NHL. Betting on them to win the Stanley Cup is probably not a very good bet seeing they are in the middle of this draught and rebuilding. However, the risk might be worth the reward.

Before the start of the season, the Sabres were at +7500 to win the Stanley Cup. That's not good odds, but a $100 bet would pay you $7,600 if they won. However, the Sabres are off to a hot start. While it's way too early to tell, they have looked like a potential contender out of the gate. They are playing fast and physical, scoring a lot of goals, and getting solid goaltending. Maybe, just maybe, this is the year the playoff drought ends.

The odds makers certainly think it might. According to Caesars Sportsbook, the odds of the Sabres making the playoffs this year are +210, which is pretty good odds.

THew odds for them to win it all, though, are still a long shot. They have gone up and if you wanted to place a bet on it now may be the time.

Caesars Sportsbook gives the Sabres a +5,000 to win it all. That means a $100 bet would get you $5,100 if they win it all.

By the way, the worst odds to win it all are the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks, both at a whopping +50,000! That means a $100 bet would fetch you $50,100! However, they almost certainly have no shot this year.

Should you make the bet? That's of course up to you. I recommend only betting if you have spare cash. Or make a small bet. I bet $15 on the Sabres to win it all when the odds were at +7500. That would pay me $1,140. My logic was I'd spend $15 on lunch, so why not spend it on a bet and just skip lunch one day? I'm certainly NOT an expert, and I'm not suggesting you do the same.
