National restaurant chain Dave’s Hot Chicken has taken another major step in prepping for the opening of its second Erie County site.

Investors 5355 Transit Road LLC paid $1.4 million for a vacant, former Hector’s Hardware location at 5355 Transit Road, Clarence, according to documents filed Aug. 21 in the Erie County Clerk's office. The building had been owned by local investors Maple Transit Management Associates L.P.

Dave’s Hot Chicken first entered the local market last year when it opened a location at 1660 Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda.
Plans call for Dave’s Hot Chicken to occupy approximately 2,000 square feet of the building, with national retailer Mattress Firm leasing the remaining 8,000 square feet of the 10,450-square-foot building.

Dave’s is slated to open by late this year, while Mattress Firm will open in early 2025.
Founded in 2017, Dave’s is best known for its chicken sliders. The chain has more than 90 locations around the country.
