Last night was a history-making night in New York State both on the state level and the local level.

As the polls closed, Governor Kathy Hochul became the first female to be elected as Governor in New York, she wasn't the only person making history.

In Buffalo, Judge Gary Wilson won the election to the Buffalo City Court and becomes the first LGBTQ person to be elected to the court.


Judge Wilson was appointed to the court in July of this year by City of Buffalo Mayor Bryon Brown. He was appointed by the Mayor to fill one of two vacancies in the court. Now that he won his election,

He will serve a full 10-year term on the court. Prior to joining the court in July, Wilson served as the Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. John B. Licata, New York State Supreme Court.
