Good News For Homeowners In Western New York
It is never too early for good news.
Homeowners in Western New York got some really good news earlier this week. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that in the soon-to-be-released county budget there will be a reduction in property taxes in Erie County.
Inflation is making everything cost more, so anytime you can pay less for something that is good news.
Poloncarz shared the good news earlier this week on Twitter.
The proposed budget for 2023 is expected to be released to the public in October.
The average property tax in Erie County is 2.470% which means you will pay around $6100 per year for a home valued at $250,000.
In Niagara County, the average property tax rate is 2.760% which means you pay around $6900 per year on a home valued at $250,000.
In Chautauqua County, the property tax rate is 2.800% which means you are paying $7000 a year in property taxes on a home valued at $250,000.
In Cattaraugus County, the property tax rate is 3.090% which means you are paying around $7725 per year in property taxes.
On average, New Yorkers are paying just over $4300 per year in property taxes which is well above the National average of $2775 on a home valued at $250,000.
Poloncarz didn't mention how much the property tax will drop, but any drop is a good drop when it comes to taxes.
