Big Mistake Made By Western New Yorkers This Weekend
So many people from all over Western New York made this huge mistake this weekend.
You may remember…the Borderland Music + Arts Festival returned to East Aurora this weekend at Knox Farm State Park.
Tons of bands performed at this year’s festival, including Donna The Buffalo, Michael Franti + Spearhead, the Flaming Lips, Portugal the Man, and a Western New York favorite: The Infamous Stringdusters.
There were hundreds, if not thousands, of people at Borderland this year, with fun vendors attracting people from all over.
But there’s one thing you have to remember when you go to a festival like Borderland, and that is: ditch the shoes.
The rules to enter a business are very much reversed when you go to an outdoor music festival. The “no shirt, no shoes, no service” rule no longer applies when you’re outside at a festival that’s being held in the sun’s blaze.
Think of it as you would when you hear Kenny Chesney’s song “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems.”
If I were to guess, about 4 out of every 5 people at Borderland this weekend had no shoes and no socks on, and if you were one of the people who did not, you might have stood out.
Don’t feel bad, though. Last year I was wearing sneakers and some nice gentleman came up to me to tell me to “Feeel the earth, dude. Connect with the world around you.” And he gestured at my shoes…but I didn’t realize he was actually advising me to follow proper outdoor festival etiquette and rip the shoes off.
So take it from someone who did it wrong…next time you’re at an outdoor music festival, don’t be afraid to take “all the little piggies” with you.
