Hamburg Man Has Been Indicted For Raping And Kidnapping Woman
A Hamburg man has been indicted for allegedly raping and kidnapping a woman. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that the 62-year-old male was arraigned on the morning of Tuesday, September 20, 2022, before State Supreme Court Justice Mark Montour. Scott A. Saracina was indicted on the following charges:
- One count of Rape in the First Degree
- One count of Kidnapping in the Second Degree
- One count of Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree
On August 23, 2022, at 5 pm Saracina allegedly grabbed the purse of the female victim, who was in his vehicle. The defendant took the woman's mobile phone from her purse, then proceeded to verbally abuse her. When the woman tried to take her cell phone back from Saracina, he allegedly bit her finger. He is also accused of pulling her head backward by her hair and continuing to verbally attack her.
He then allegedly drove the woman to her home in Chautauqua County but he forced her back into his vehicle. He kidnapped the woman, holding her against her will, taking her to his home on South Park Avenue in Hamburg. Still in possession of her cell phone, thus preventing her from calling the police. Saracina then allegedly raped the victim in the bedroom. He is accused of threatening her the entire time. Eventually, he freed the victim, who contacted the police.
Saracina will return to court before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 2 pm. He is being held without bail. Saracina is facing up to 25 years behind bars if convicted of the highest charge against him.
He is also facing charges in a second case where he is accused of stalking and harassing another female employee and violating an order of protection.
D.A. Flynn reminds you that,
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
