The Buffalo Bills Part Ways With Long-Time Center Mitch Morse

It has been a busy day at One Bills Drive.  The Buffalo Bills have needed to make some room in the budget and today they're doing that.

Earlier this afternoon, The Buffalo Bills surprised some people by cutting all-pro safety Jordan Poyer.  It was a bit of a shock knowing that their other starting safety Micah Hyde is already a free agent.  But in doing so, they were able to free up $5.7 million in cap space.

They were far from finished, however.

One of the best things to come from the 2023 season was what was looking like a solid line.  They had found a rookie starting guard in O'Cyrus Torrence to play alongside a progessing Spencer Brown.  On the other side of the line they brought in Conner McGovern from Dallas to play next to all-pro tackle Dion Dawkins.  And Mitch Morse has been solid in the center snapping to Josh Allen.

That looks as though it's about to change today.  It's been reported that the Bills will be cutting Morse.

Who will play center for the Bills in 2024?

The Bills just extended David Edwards today.  There are reports that Edwards will move to guard and Conner McGovern will take the place of Mitch Morse at the Center position.

That wasn't the end of it

The cuts continued today.  Along with Poyer and Morse, the Bills are also parting ways with special teams player Siran Neal and receiver Deonte Harty, who probably had his best play of the year in the last regular season game against Miami when he spurred the team with a late punt return for a touchdown.

The Bills still have a bunch of work to do to get below the salary cap.  Don't be surprised if they aren't finished with big moves yet.
