Traps Selling Fast as Rat Problems EXPLODE in Western New York
It is one of the biggest issues in neighborhoods all across Western New York, but one that really people start noticing more once the weather gets nice: rats all over Western New York.
Last year, some small hardware stores had a problem keeping rat traps on the shelves because there seemed to be an explosion of rat incidents and it is happening all over again here in Western New York. The two biggest problems that keep rats around are your garbage cans and your bird feeders.
Here is what you should do to stop the rats:
- DO NOT leave garbage cans open and take away all other food sources.
- Keep the grass CUT.
- Clean up dog poop left in the yard.
- Move bird feeders away from the house.
What kind of rat traps are you using? Which ones do you think work the best?
I live across the street from one house who had a pest control van outside and they were working in the basement and when I asked what was happening down there, the company told me that they could not tell me and it had to be kept confidential. It must just be protocol because when the owner got home, he told us that they had a big rat problem and somehow they found their way into the basement over the winter.
It is crazy to think about, but how are you going to stop the rats from being around the house? On Facebook here are some of the comments about the rats:

I’m not reading all comments… but where is this because I live right across the street from wegmans behind Valu and we have bigger rats then that the biggest we had not that long ago was probably the size of a 6 month old cat. It’s nasty I just ordered more snap traps on Amazon because I’ve gone to Valu and they were out.

I have trapped 20 just in the month of December. I didn't bother in the last couple months, but noticed holes going into my garage again. Back at it but these are smart ones, avoiding every snap trap I have put out so far.
