Living on an international border is a gift and a curse for those who call the region home.

One of the great things is that you have direct access to another country and can often cross the border quicker than you can get home. However, that also means your economy is typically vulnerable to financial instability when countries threaten each other with tariffs. However, it's not all doom and gloom as Southern Ontarians and Western New Yorkers have had a long history of friendship and cooperation, except when it comes to one thing: hockey.

The rivalry that exists between hockey fans in Western New York and Southern Ontario is friendly, but runs deep. You don't need to look any further than the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs battles. As the NHL season gets closer to an end, folks all over both nations are looking to November 2025 when the national hockey teams for both the United States and Canada do battle in preparation for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
