Buffalo has been in the national news a lot lately. Not only are the Bandits on the verge of a 3-peat for the NLL Championship, the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court was just in town, and the of course the Bills are inching closer to opening the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

If that wasn't enough, it seems that a national news commentary show has had the MiLB/Minor League Baseball and the Buffalo Bisons on its mind.

Last Week Tonight Star John Oliver Has an Idea For Buffalo Bisons

On the latest episode of the Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO, the comedian spent a large part of this show talking about President Donald Trump and the big national dust up about deportations in the country.

During the episode Oliver discussed conditions migrants have had to deal with in the various facilities they are being sent to in other country, and even how actor Henry Winkler could be in danger as well.

Once Oliver wrapped up this part of the episode, he transitioned into something that no one was expecting: Minor League Baseball teams and their marketing strategy.

According to Sports Illustrated, Oliver went through a discussion on how MiLB teams have great (and sometimes not great) marketing strategies to put butts in the seats. Shortly thereafter, he arrived on the topic of the Buffalo Bisons. During the episode, he made a unique offer to the Bisons and other Minor League teams from New York State.

We are willing to use all of our resources and stupidity to give one minor league baseball team a total rebrand... We will give you a new team name, a new mascot, we will even throw you a theme night. It will be personalized, it will be personalized and it will be bespoke. I promise, we will put just as much time, energy and research into this as we do exposing the dark underbelly of America's criminal justice system – arguably more. And we will do this in the spirit of your team, city and the league to which you belong.
-John Oliver, Last Week Tonight

If Oliver rebranded the Bisons, what would that look like? Hopefully, they come up with something fun.
