Matt Milano suffered a torn bicep at Tuesday’s practice and will be out indefinitely, per Adam Schefter.

The linebacker will undergo surgery and hopes to return in December, but there is no guarantee.

Head coach Sean McDermott called it an “unfortunate situation,” as the Pro-Bowler only played five games last season before he broke his leg in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In his shortened season, he had 30 tackles (18 solo), a forced fumble, two interceptions, and 16 yards.

McDermott said the bicep tear happened when Milano tackled a bag and hit his arm at Tuesday’s practice.

“We’ve got to move forward and focus on solutions,” McDermott said.

Milano’s name is now added to a lengthy “did not practice” list from the Bills’ joint practice with the Steelers on Thursday. Other players include LB Baylor Spector and LB Nicholas Morrow, S Cole Bishop and S Mike Edwards, WR Lawrence Keys III, WR Curtis Samuel, TE Dawson Knox, as well as OL Travis Clayton and DE Casey Toohill.

The Bills play the Steelers on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium for the second preseason matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
