Famed Buffalo Music Venue May Reopen Soon
It was just a few weeks ago, at the end of January, when the historic Mohawk Place closed its doors for what many thought would be the last time. However, it seems that the sun has shined on the downtown Buffalo music venue and it may have a path for its stage and entertainment floor to greet musicians and fans once again in the very near future.
Mohawk Place, the historic downtown music venue and nightspot, closed its doors on January 31, 2025, and followed in the footsteps of several other Buffalo venues that closed, where you could listen to some good music while having some great drinks. Places like Marcella, The Old Pink, Swannie House, Brick Bar, and countless other venues in Western New York all closed their doors over the last year, and the loss of Mohawk Place was just another checkmark on the list of lost venues.
However, according to WGRZ-TV, two local folks from Western New York have put up a nice chunk of money to acquire the venue with a plan to reopen it for the people.

The company Mohawk Forever, LLC., laid out $175,000 to buy the building located at 47 Mohawk Street in Buffalo from its previous owners. The deal was finalized last week on February 28th and is now owned by Frank Dimaria and Bernice Radle.
Buffalo Business First was able to obtain more details about the deal and the potential plan to resurrect Mohawk Place:
- Around $1.8 to $2.4 million will be spent to rehab and renovate Mohawk Place and a neighboring building on Ellicott Street that housed the former Electric Avenue venue,
- A non-profit company will be created to run the new reformed venue as a music center and an arts venue, with concerts and a bar on the 1st floor and the upper floors housing educational and art programs,
- The new venue may mimic a former 20th-century eastside saloon, which was pretty popular.
Mohawk Place needs quite a bit of work, but the plan is to make it a great place to party and hang out. It's great to see that one of Buffalo's historic nightlife spots is on the way back; maybe this action by Dimaria & Radle will spur more investment in Buffalo's nightlife.
