Halloween is tomorrow and some people think that the line between the living and the dead is at its thinnest so if you wanted to contact the other side Halloween would be the ideal day.

Chances are that you would also want to be in a place that is known for having spirits and ghosts already there. That would be the most haunted place in New York State.

That place is located at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. Yes, this is the house that was the inspiration for the movie "The Amityville Horror" which was originally released in 1979 and then redone in 2005. The 1979 movie grossed over $80 million dollars making it one of the most profitable independent films of all time. The 2005 movie grossed around $108 million dollars.

The story behind the real-life haunting of the home started in 1974. Experts believe that the house became haunted after Ronald DeFeo, Jr., murdered his parents and four siblings. He claimed that he heard voices telling him to kill his family

In 1975, a new family moved into the home. They claimed to experienced paranormal activities and moved out after just 27 days.

Since 1976 several other families have moved into and out of the house. The home was most recently bought in 2016 when it came on the market for $850,000. The address has changed since 1974 and the home is now located at 108 Ocean Avenue.

The home is around 3600 square feet and comes with five bedrooms, a large boat house, a boat slip, and a two-car garage.
