New York’s Latest Lottery Jackpot Is Record Setting
Tonight someone has a chance to win a record-setting lottery jackpot here in New York.
The estimated jackpot for tonight's Powerball drawing is $700 million dollars which if won would make it the 5th largest jackpot in Powerball history and the 8th largest jackpot in Lottery history.
If someone from New york wins the jackpot, it would be the largest jackpot ever won by a New York resident.
The only other jackpots that topped tonight's jackpot are:
$731.1 million Powerball jackpot - An anonymous group in Maryland won the $731.1 million jackpot on Jan. 20, 2021.
$758.7 million Powerball jackpot - 53-year-old Mavis Wanczyk had the only winning ticket for the August 23rd, 2017 drawing. She won $758.7 million dollars and took the lump sum payment which turned out to be about $336 million after income taxes.
$768.4 million Powerball jackpot - Only One winning ticket was sold in Wisconsin for the Powerball drawing on March 27, 2019. 24-year-old Manuel Franco took home the $768.4 million dollar jackpot.
$1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot - One lucky ticket sold in Michigan matched all six winning numbers in a Mega Millions drawing on Jan. 22, 2021. That jackpot was valued at $1.05 billion. 4 people who were part of a lottery club claimed the grand prize.
$1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot - Once again only one ticket was sold for this billion-dollar jackpot. It was sold at a gas station in a Chicago suburb on July 29, 2022.
$1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot - There was only a single winner for the 2nd largest jackpot in lottery history. The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018.
$1.586 billion Powerball jackpot - The largest jackpot in Lottery history was split three ways as three winning tickets were sold for the Jan. 13, 2016 drawing. The winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
