Two Western New York Natives Get High Praise In NFL
Western New York is not known as a major hotbed for NFL talent, but two Western New York natives are making waves on the coaching side in professional football.
Two of the hottest teams in the NFL this year are both led by Western New York natives and they will faceoff against each other at least twice this season.
Heading into the games this afternoon, the Philadelphia Eagles are currently the only undefeated team in the NFL at 4-0 while the most unexpected team teams at 3-1 this season are the New York Giants.
The Philadelphia Eagles are led by former Jamestown native Nick Sirianni while the New York Giants are led by Brian Daboll who was born in Ontario, Canada but was raised by his Grandparents here in Western New York and attended high school at St. Francis.
Sirianni has been the head coach of the Eagles since 2021 but has been coaching at colleges and in the NFL since 2004. He has coached at several NFL teams including the Kansas Chiefs, San Deigo/Los Angeles Chargers, and the Indianopolis Colts before taking the head coaching job in Philly.
Brian Daboll is well known in Western New York since he was the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator from 2018 until 2021. Daboll has also spent many years in the coaching field before landing as the head coach of the Giants. Daboll has spend time coaching in Cleveland, New England, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both men are doing an amazing job in their first head coaching jobs with each of them having a shot of making the playoffs this year.
