A gateway hotel that leads into the heart of Niagara Falls is set to be expanded and double its overnight rooms.

Indian Ocean LLC, owners of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 900 Buffalo Avenue, is working with Niagara Falls and Niagara County leaders on a proposed $10 million expansion that will bring between 85 and 88 new hotel rooms to the building.

Also planned is a new restaurant and outdoor patio space.
The Courtyard, once a regional headquarters for Moore Business Forms, currently has 82 rooms.

With the expansion, Indian Ocean LLC will be adding eight new jobs to the 20-person workforce at the hotel.

Indian Ocean LLC is working with the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency on an incentive package needed to pencil out the project. The IDA directors will begin their review of the proposed project on Oct. 9.

Construction is expected to start this spring.
