This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of the most popular Halloween songs: Thriller.

Not only is it an iconic staple when it comes to Halloween, it is also known as one of the most influential music videos in history, according to VOX. The album of the same name, Thriller, went onto become the highest-selling album in music history, with “over 100 million copies sold worldwide.”

Several years after its debut, people still crank Thriller in their college dorm and do the same coordinated dance along with the chorus.

This year, though, Western New Yorkers upped their game.

Throughout the Town of Hamburg, dancers filled the community playground as they performed Thriller through the night.

There were also food trucks, live music, and limbo contests at the event, according to WGRZ

However, it wasn’t just in Hamburg; there were Thriller dancers in Ellicottville, too!

In Ellicottville, over 1,500 people came down to watch the Fusion Dance Studio zombies take over the streets. The crowd was participating and learning the Thriller choreography to take into the zombie dance battle, too!

You may remember…this has actually happened before.

This year marks the 7th anniversary of Fusion Dance Studio performing in Ellicottville, but back in 2018, Fusion Dance Studio took over Franklin Street in Buffalo on Halloween night to recreate the Michael Jackson dance routine.

It makes you wonder what will happen this year on Halloween!

The trick or treat times vary across Western New York. In Angola, Amherst, and Kenmore are 6-8. Village of Lancaster goes until 8:30. Clarence and Grand Island are 5-8. Niagara Falls and Lockport are 4-7 pm.
