Does This Western New York Village Have Massive Deer Issue?
There are many discussions surrounding the issue of too many deer that one Western New York Village is dealing with.
The fall is here and so is the New York State deer hunting season. With the proper permits, and being in the approved areas, deer hunters can score a deer or two, in some cases more, to fill their freezers. But hunting deer may not always solve a population issue.

According to many residents that we spoke with and a few posts online, East Aurora, New York, is seeing a massive number of deer that are wondering the village and are eating up valuable vegetation.
In an article from the East Aurora Advertiser, it was noted that "Voicing worries about collisions, Lyme disease and vegetation consumption, East Aurora Garden Club members and other residents have asked the Aurora Town Board and East Aurora Village Board of Trustees to develop a plan to decrease the number of deer".
This has become a very controversial topic, and many have weighed in with comments such as: "It is us HUMANS that have diminished their lands and living situations and have forced them into our communities so as far as I’m concerned they can eat my plants..".
In the past, some towns and villages have resorted to either a special lottery to hunt and kill deer, to using sharp shooters and bait to remove unwanted deer.
While we wait to see some sort of resolution, the whitetail deer season is here and there are specific laws to follow.
