What’s Happening Around Western New York: Friday Edition
Here are some of the top stories in Western New York for Friday.
1 - It was a recording setting for Halloween. Yesterday we hit 78 in Buffalo making yesterday the warmest Halloween in Western New York history. That will all change today as a cold front is moving through the area. We will see the temperatures drop as the day progresses and it looks like we will be in the 50s by this afternoon. That cold will be with us through the weekend with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s for the Bills game on Sunday.
2 – If you are looking to increase your chances of winning the lottery you might want to take a drive to Newburgh, New York. The store “Smoke 4 Less” sold 6 “Big Money” winning lottery tickets in the month of October and 6 million dollar winning Powerball tickets since last November. It is about a 5-hour drive but could be worth it if you win a million dollars.
3 – You now have three days to go out and vote early ahead of Tuesday’s election day. Over 100,000 people across Western New York have already cast their vote during the early voting period. Polls will be open today from Noon until 9 pm and then this weekend from 9 am until 5 pm.
4 –It’s Friday and the Weekend is here and there are plenty of things to do. Don’t put away that Halloween costume just yet. The Halloween Spooktacular Party of the Season happening tomorrow at Samuel’s Grand Manor. There will be live music from Hair Nation and lead singer Jim Crean said there will be plenty of prize money up for grabs (audio) Also don’t miss FREE Bar Bingo tonight at Bloomfield’s, you can win lots of great prizes including tickets to see C&C music factory. Bloomfield’s has extended happy hour from 4-8 and Bingo goes from 5-7 pm.

5 - Officials with the New York State Department of Transportation are warning drivers to be more alert as we continue the deadliest time of the year for deer/car accidents. October through December is the time the most fatal deer/car accidents happen across the state due to increased deer activity during rutting season. Most deer are active are dawn and dusk and you should be extra careful when driving around during those times.
6 – This week you can pick up another great “We Are Buffalo” deal. Tomorrow starting at 9 am you can get a $50 gift card to Mister’s Bar and Lanes in East Aurora for only $25.
