The world is filled with all sorts of great cities. Just thinking about the entire history of the world, there are several cities that could compete for best every. From Istanbul to Cairo, Paris to France, and New York City to Los Angeles, great cities are worldwide.

However, none of those towns are the best. That's because the number one is something that we've wanted to keep a secret for a long time, but it seems the secret is out.

Buffalo, New York Recently Named The Number One City In The United States of America

According to Clever Real Estate, the Queen City of New York, Buffalo is the best overall city in America in 2023.

This is great news for the people of Western New York, as it has achieved several distinctions over the last few years. Not only is Buffalo considered the Nicest City in America and the Best Planned City, but its new designation as flat-out the best city in the US isn't new news for Buffalonians. We've known it, and we show it everywhere we go.

Clever Real Estate compiled the results of multiple different surveys and ranked the top 50 cities in the United States to come up with their scores. Buffalo scored a perfect 100 using Clever's scoring model.

With Buffalo holding the top spot, that also means there are several cities that Buffalo beat out:

  • Denver, CO ranks 2nd
  • Washington, D.C. ranks 18th
  • New York City ranks 37th

While those great cities aren't as good as Buffalo, there is one city in particular that Buffalonians know is pretty terrible, and, of course, it takes the bottom spot:

Miami, Florida ranks 50th out of the top 50 cities in America.

The 10 Dumbest Cities In New York [RANKED]

Varying levels of education do not always correlate with one's intelligence. Regardless, the data miners at Roadsnacks compiled education data from New York cities with a population of over 5,000. Of the 163 Empire State cities analyzed, these are the 10 dumbest cities in the state based on the rate of high school dropouts and higher education of adults 25 and older.

New York State's 10 Drunkest Counties

According to County Health Rankings and Roadmaps, these are the 10 New York counties with the highest rates of excessive alcohol consumption among adults. The CDC says exessive drinking includes binge drinking which is "...defined as consuming 4 or more drinks on an occasion for a woman or 5 or more drinks on an occasion for a man.." and heavy drinking which " ...for women...is 8 drinks or more per week/For men, heavy drinking is 15 drinks or more per week."
